Borneo

The fall of 2017 I traveled to Borneo, Malaysia to see the rain forest and the orangutans. I flew first to Hong Kong where I spent two days. I had always wanted to see this city and I also wanted to take the tram that ascends Victoria Peak. And it was a magical experience. And then I flew to Kota Kinabalu, our flight trying to outrun a typhoon in the South China Sea.  I met my group and the next day we drove by van to Kinabalu National Park, staying the night in a cabin where the typhoon caught up with us. We then traveled by van through small villages, hiked in the rain forest. The next day we traveled to visit the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitaion Center where we were able to observe the young primates. The next few days were full of activities; hiking to a volcanic mud pot area, visiting a water village, exploring the Gomantong Caves where we saw bats and bugs, ewe, and on to a beautiful lodge in the Tabin rainforest.  It was a memorable trip. Coming soon, Borneo Experience, the next book in the Jeanie Williams mystery series.
